Meet the Central Region Program Manager: Esarrah Hopkins

Favorite Quote: “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” – African Proverb

Favorite Book: Their Eyes Were Watching God - Zora Neale Hurston

Who is Esarrah Hopkins? In 2019. I graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a B.S. in Biology and in 2022 with a Masters of Science in Public Health. In all those years of studying, I gravitated towards the communities and found great fulfillment when involving myself in the initiatives to bridge gaps in health disparities faced by the underserved. As the Central TN Program manager for TN CEAL, it is my goal to continue to bring health resources and elevate underserved communities while fostering relationships with partners that share a similar mission.

What do you love about your community? I love the kindness that all community members share- no matter their situation- and how willing they are to participate in our initiatives.

Why did you want to be a Regional Program Manager? I wanted to be the regional program manager because of the vision I saw for the Central TN region in my previous role. There are many great ideas that are coming to life and I wanted to be at the forefront of the change that TN CEAL and the IHDEE are bringing to many spaces in the region.

Why should individuals become a Community Health Worker in your region? Becoming a community health worker allows you to provide underserved communities with access to resources and services that would otherwise be inaccessible. Your contribution to the TN CEAL CHW program would continue to push our vision for underserved communities forward.

Why did you become a Community Health Worker? I wanted to continue supporting the work I was doing with QDX but serving my community.
